Review Guidelines: NIL Financial Advisor Directory
The NIL Financial Advisor Directory exists to help student-athletes make informed decisions by sharing honest, respectful, and helpful feedback about their experiences with financial advisors. To keep reviews credible and useful, we ask all users to follow these guidelines:
1. Be Honest and Accurate
Share your actual experience working with the advisor — the good, the bad, or somewhere in between.
Avoid exaggerating, making false claims, or posting second-hand stories you can’t verify.
2. Keep it Respectful
Critique services and behavior — not personal characteristics like race, gender, religion, or appearance.
No profanity, hate speech, or personal attacks.
3. Be Specific
Details make reviews more valuable to other athletes. Consider addressing:
How responsive was the advisor?
Were fees and terms clearly explained?
Did they deliver on what they promised (budgeting help, tax planning, investment advice, etc.)?
Specific examples are far more useful than vague statements.
4. No Conflicts of Interest
Do not post reviews for your own business or on behalf of a competitor.
Friends, family, and business partners of the advisor should not submit reviews unless they were also a client.
5. Stick to Your Experience
Avoid making claims about legal violations or criminal acts unless they are already public record.
If you have a serious complaint (fraud, misconduct), please use our Report a Concern form so we can handle it appropriately.
6. Star Ratings Explained
We use a 1–5 star scale:
5 stars: Excellent — went above and beyond expectations
4 stars: Good — met expectations with only minor issues
3 stars: Average — acceptable, but left room for improvement
2 stars: Poor — fell short in key areas
1 star: Very poor — would not recommend
7. Verification
We may request proof that you worked with the advisor (such as contract terms, communication records, or other evidence). Reviews that cannot be verified may be removed.
8. Edits and Removal
You may edit or remove your review at any time by contacting us at info@nilfinancialadvisordirectory.com.
We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines.
9. Advisor Responses
Advisors can reply publicly to reviews, giving them an opportunity to address concerns or thank clients.
We encourage advisors to keep replies professional — this is their chance to build trust.
10. Compare Multiple Advisors
Our directory allows you to compare financial advisors side-by-side.
Use the Compare feature to see reviews, ratings, specialties, fees, and services at a glance. Comparing multiple advisors before making a choice can help you find the best fit for your needs.
11. Our Goal
We believe in transparency. Honest reviews — positive or negative — help student-athletes choose the right financial advisor and encourage advisors to provide the highest level of service.
